Combining alternative vocal styles with aggressive dance beats, and embellishing each track with imaginative, synthy sound-scapes, Go Periscope claims its own territory; bridging the gap between Powerpop and Electronica. Officially formed in early 2008, the Seattle-based duo – Florin Mehedinti (Vocals, Keyboards) and Joshua Frazier (Vocals, Keyboards, Guitars) – is already captivating a large and growing audience through Myspace, Purevolume, Facebook and Seattle radio station C89.5. Florin and Joshua began playing instruments and producing music at an early age, and each brings a broad range of influences to the band. From the melodic synth riffs floating through 80’s rock bands like New Order and The Cars, to the fist-pumping anthems of bands like Blink 182 and New Found Glory, their sound incorporates the shiniest cuts of their favorite artists. The result is fresh, hook-heavy, and unexpected. In the summer of 2008, after several years of collaborating on demos, the boys began work on their first album. The 15-track self-titled L.P. is the product of months of writing, performing, recording and producing in their Seattle apartment. Florin and Joshua draw their lyrical and musical inspiration from critical coming-of-age experiences. Whether capturing the youthful energy of a typical high school weekend or the grief of leaving a girlfriend for college and knowing things will never be the same, the scenes are honest and easily relatable.
