Hailing from New York City, this musician formed Weatherstar in the summer of 2009 and achieved almost instant success through self-promotion efforts via MySpace and PureVolume. During early 2010, Weatherstar rounded out its sound and extended its musical reach by officially adding drummer Billy Toti. With this lineup, the band has thrived and although falling under the genre of rock/pop, the full vocals of Walker and the beautifully placed acoustic guitar allow Weatherstar to stand out from the over saturated genre. Following current industry trends, Weatherstar has gone the route of self-production. With strong management from David Conway (Working Group Artist Management), the band was able to translate its initial online success into tangible results: being featured as one of PureVolume’s “Top Unsigned Artists of 2009,” releasing an Acoustic EP on March 30, 2010, and producing a self-titled EP on May 4th. Furthermore, Weatherstar has shared the stage with major acts such as NeverShoutNever, Valencia, Hit The Lights, The Dangerous Summer, A Rocket To the Moon, and more. All of this success is not without merit; the Weatherstar EP is an exceptionally strong six track EP that demonstrates the range and variety of music that Walker and Toti can produce. The EP features diverse sounds from acoustic tracks (“Planes Oceans & Symphonies”) similar to NeverShoutNever, to a ballad-type tune on “Postcards,” to true rock/pop songs (“What Was I Thinking”). It would seem that Walker has found his winning formula and is taking all of his chances with great strides, bringing himself and Toti to the front of the music scene.
